Transmission of your files
To save time, don’t forget to follow the Tax Data Download procedure.
For optimal security, we invite you to upload your files directly to our secure transmission space. Your documents are transmitted via HTTPS protocol and stored in a protected environment reserved for Impotax.org.
If your files are small (less than 5 MB), you can also email them to info@impotax.org.
For multiple documents, remember to group them into a single ZIP file before submitting.
New clients or change of situation
Please complete and attach the first page of the PreparationPerso document .
You can also use free or secure transfer and sharing solutions:
- WeTransfer (free service, easy to use, however not ideal for sensitive documents)
- The main online sharing and storage platforms ( compress your files into a single .zip file, not .rar before sending , see below):
Google Drive
To share a file or folder:
- Open Drive (or Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Select the item, then click Share .
- For a link accessible to everyone: Under General access , choose “Anyone with the link” , then copy the link.
Dropbox
To share a file or folder:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Hover over the item, click Share .
- To get a link, click Copy link . You can then allow editing and reading permissions.
Apple iCloud Drive
From iCloud.com:
- Select the file or folder, then click the Share button .
- In the sharing options, you can set the permissions (read/edit, restricted access or open), then click Copy Link .
On macOS:
- In Finder, ctrl- ‑click (or right-click) the item → Share → Collaborate .
- Select “Anyone with the link” and the full permission level. Then copy the link.
Microsoft OneDrive
To share a file or folder:
- From OneDrive (website or app), select the item and click Share .
- Anyone with this link option , and check or uncheck Allow editing .
- Copy and send the resulting link.
How to Convert Your Documents into PDF Files
You can use a scanner to convert your documents into files. Please make sure the images are clear and sharp, as a blurry image will be rejected by our office.
If you are using a phone or tablet, we recommend using a scanning app that automatically converts photos into PDF files instead of sending simple images (JPEG/PNG).
Here are some free and easy-to-use apps:
- Adobe Scan (iOS/Android)
- Microsoft Lens (iOS/Android)
- CamScanner (iOS/Android)
- Notes (built-in on iPhone/iPad, option “Scan Documents”)
- Google Drive (Android: includes scan function)
These apps allow you to:
- Auto-crop and straighten your documents,
- Improve readability (contrast, brightness),
- Save directly as PDF and easily share by email or upload.
Compressing into a zip file
Zip Compression On Windows
Step 1: Select your files
- Go to the folder where your files are located.
- Click the first file , then hold down the Ctrl key and click the other files you want to include.
(Or use Ctrl + A to select everything in the folder at once.)
Step 2: Right-click on the selection
- Once you have all your files selected, right-click on one of them.
- A menu appears.
Step 3: Choose “Send to → Compressed folder (zip)”
- In the menu, point to Send To .
- Then click on Compressed folder (zip) .
Step 4: Rename your ZIP file
- Windows creates a new ZIP file in the same folder.
- The default name corresponds to the first file selected.
- Type the name you want (eg. Documents_Tax.zip) and press Enter .
Result: You now have a single ZIP file that contains all your files. You can then easily send it via email or a sharing platform.
Zip compression on Mac (macOS)
- Select the files to compress.
- Right-click → Compress X items .
- The .zip file will be created in the same folder.
Zip compression on Linux
- Select the files.
- Right click → Compress (depending on GNOME/KDE environment).
- Choose the .zip format and validate.
(On the command line: zip archive.zip file1 file2 …)

Tips for preparing and submitting your documents
To speed up processing and avoid back and forth, please follow these recommendations.
Before sending
- Choose a single communication channel (ideally email to info@impotax.org).
Avoid mixing: in person + internet + text + mail. - Consolidate all your files into a single email.
Avoid multiple emails spaced out over time. - Check each document : numbers legible, pages right side up (not upside down or sideways), no missing pages.
- Accepted formats : PDF, DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX, TXT, JPEG, PNG.
- Do not add passwords to files (no access permission required).
- Clearly indicate in your email: your full name and a telephone number to contact you.
Sheets and supporting documents
- Include both the federal and provincial slips for each relevant document.
- Do not combine several sheets on the same page (risk of forgetting).
- Do not send your medical receipts : instead, indicate the total amount not reimbursed by your insurance in the body of the email (same principle for donations). You can consult the PreparationPerso file for more details on medical expenses.
- Avoid sending slips from the wrong year or RRSPs already deducted the previous year.
Communication
- Do not send documents by text (attachments are not readable by text). Use the email info@impotax.org .
- After submitting , you will receive an email shortly.
Please allow reasonable processing time ; if you don’t hear back after a few days, please write to me. - Phone : I am happy to answer your tax questions, but please avoid calling multiple times in one day .
Group your questions together, make sure they are complete, and then call. For unemployment , family allowances , processing times , etc., contact the Revenue Agency directly .
Signature and payment
- Electronic signature of authorizations (TED sheets) accepted.
- Payment of fees by Interac e-Transfer.
If technology makes you uncomfortable
Call us (514-234-3737) for an appointment in person or choose an accountant near you .
Follow-up after transmission
If you have not received a Notice of Assessment from Revenu Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency after one month , there may have been a transmission problem.
Call the Revenue Agency to verify , then send me an email .
